Product Description

If you need to dig yourself out of an overtraining hole, gain lung capacity, get extra vigor and brain focus for a training session or race, or desire extra calming nourishment to help you navigate the storm of stress, work and life, then TianChi Chinese Adaptogenic Herb Complex is your ultimate solution.

TianChi is a potent blend of a unique category of herbs called adaptogens, herbs that facilitate your body’s “adaptation” to stress. They help your body maintain, build or fix it’s own natural healthy processes, even if you’re exposed to a wide range of external and internal stressors.

Aside from a small handful of elite athletes and coaches, trained monks and scholars of the Orient, most people don’t realize that regulating your nervous system and stopping the constant outflow of energy due to various adrenal stressors is the first step to creating true and lasting energy. It is through targeting the natural regulating mechanism of the body that real energy can be harvested and used to power and rejuvenate your entire body system.

This is because low energy is your body’s response to stress – and to fix the low energy, a whole body treatment is requried – not just a cup of coffee or extra helping of salad. TianChi is a whole food Chinese herb supplement that helps restore your whole energy system — mental, emotional, physical, sexual and intellectual. As a result, this potent powder is enormously beneficial as a nutrient “shotgun” to your cardiovascular, endocrine, immune, reproductive and nervous systems.

What you’ll receive when you get your TianChi in the mail is a box filled with packets that contain a delicious herbal tonic blend of the most renowned longevity herbs in the Orient. These superior herbs are consumed throughout Asia to promote a healthy lifestyle have been used for centuries for anti-aging and to prevent fatigue.

Every herb used in TianChi is far more pure and potent than typical old, ineffective and often dangerous or nasty-ingredient laced herbs on the market. Very few products contain 100% whole herb extracts. On average the herbal extracts are at least 10:1 yields, meaning it takes 10 pounds of raw herb to produce 1 pound of pure extract. Most manufacturers start with pure yield and cut them to concentrations of 4:1 or 5:1 by adding filler. This produces a cheaper, but less effective extract. Imagine buying a 5:1 extract that originally was 45:1!

In stark contrast, the herbal extracts used in TianChi yield 12:1 or greater, and there is even one herb in TianChi that is a 45:1 yield. In other words, you would have to take 9x as much herb from any other source to equal the potency in TianChi! And you would be getting mostly filler, harmful ingredients, and very few results.

All of the herbs in TianChi are Non-GMO, Kosher Certified and non-irradiated. They are extracted in purified water and test free of heavy metals. And the creator uses only wild crafted herbs – herbs found in their natural state, free from pesticides and exposure to pollution.

You will feel this stuff instantly, guaranteed – and we’re honored to be able to share the experience of TianChi with you. For best results, simply open up a packet of the dark, rich, red powder, and pour into a refreshing glass of ice water. Drink your TianChi all by itself, with no extra fancy juices or added ingredients. Then sit back and enjoy the feeling of TianChi.

Below is a complete list of the pure and potent herbs you’ll find inside each pack of TianChi, with a guarantee of extreme freshness.

-Schizandra – the “Five flavor berry” is known as a beauty enhancing herb, one of the main herbs pictured with Lady Maku the Goddess of Beauty. It helps restores proper water metabolism to the cells, detoxifies the liver and lungs, and is an important herb for building lung energy. It tonifies the reproductive system, builds sexual fluids and moistens the skin. Schizandra has been successfully used in China to treat hepatitis. It contains over 20 lignans that bind to carcinogenic substances and safely removes them from the body. A mild adaptogen and powerful anti-oxidant, schizandra is the Chinese equivalent to milk thistle.

-Reishi Mushroom – Reishi is known as the “Mushroom of Immortality,” and “Herb of Good Fortune”. It is the most highly revered herb in China for its ability to brighten the mind and spirit. Historically used for boosting immunity, liver detoxing, blood purifying and building, and is known as a potent stress reliever.

-Ashwagandha– Ashwagandha is known as Indian ginseng and one of the most famous of all Ayurvedic herbs. It is a premier adaptogen and has a profound effect on regulating the HPA Axis (hypothalamus/pituitary/adrenal axis) which is the basis of stress response. Although many herbs have been crowded into this category I still maintain that the “Gang of Four”, ashwagandha, rhodiola, reishi and eleuthero, are truly substances that can effectively regulate stress response.

-Rhodiola – Rhodiola is known as the “Rose of Heaven” and “Plateau Ginseng.” It is one of the premier adaptogens in the entire world and one of my personal favorites. Regarded as life-prolonging and wisdom enhancing, it can reduce stress response, is blood purifying and is said to balance both creative and cognitive functions of the brain. One of the best herbs for blood oxygenation, it is useful for all endurance sports. Used to treat depression and chronic fatigue and protects against radiation. It is a favorite herb for cosmonauts and mountain climbers. Rhodiola is a “Three Treasure” tonic, it builds Jing, Chi and Shen.

-Ecklonia Cava – Ecklonia Cava is a seaweed extract that is the most potent plant based antioxidant known. Because it is partially fat-soluble it crosses the blood brain barrier and is particularly useful in controlling inflammation in the brain. Ecklonia Cava lasts for 12 hours in the body, much more than any other antioxidant.

-Eleuthero – This is the herb that launched all of the studies on adaptogenic herbs. Commonly used as an adaptogen in regulating stress response and strengthening adrenal function. It’s famous as a physical endurance and mental enhancing herb used by cosmonauts for its blood oxygen enriching properties. Eleuthero is a great herb for anyone who’s involved in sports or work that demands strength and endurance. It’s more Chi building than Jing, even though I use it primarily for its effect on the kidney-adrenal energy. Eleuthero is seldom sold as a bulk herb as it’s not very nutrient dense. It takes over 40 lbs of good root to make one pound of powdered extract.

-Epimedium – Fepimediumamous as “goat sex tea”, epimedium is known throughout the world as herbal aphrodisiac. Lost in its reputation is that it’s also a great herb for increasing circulation in the brain and improving general immunity. Epimedium adds a spark of Yang or fire to the adrenals and has been shown to increase fertility. It is a Jing tonic.

-Cistanches – Its Chinese neucommia barkame is “Duzhong” having been named after a doctor who took it and achieved great intellectual success. Eucommia is a premier Jing tonic as it contains a perfect balance of Yin and Yang energy. Its main use is in bone strengthening formulas and can be used for increasing fertility and regulating blood pressure.

-Gotu Kola – Gotu Kola is one of the most important rejuvenating herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. It’s used to help revitalize the brain and nerve cells. Gotu Kola is historically used to increase intelligence, memory, longevity and decrease senility. It has been known to support normal immune function and adrenal energy. It is also a powerful blood purifier and is commonly used in Ayurveda to treat chronic skin diseases. Gotu Kola is commonly used by monks and yogis in the Himalayas as an aid to meditation; similar to how Reishi is used in China by the Taoist monks.

-Albizzia Flower – This flower is known as the herb for “forgetting cares and sorrows” and “collective happiness flower”. It is an ultimate Shen tonic and is often used improving memory, circulation, and has mood elevating properties.

-Astragalus – Astragalus is one of the greatest Chi tonics in all of Chinese Herbology. It’s often used as a ginseng replacement in younger people. Recently it has gain great popularity as an immune building herb. It’s used to help strengthen digestion and lung function, for recovery from illness and as an energy building herb. It is said to build Upright Chi, meaning when the lungs are strong and the breath is deep, it promotes good posture and holds the organs in place. Astragalus is an excellent herb for maintaining the Protective Chi circulating on the surface of the skin helping to ward off seasonal illness. If the cold wind seems to bother your neck it’s often a sign you’re Protective Chi is weak.

-Green Tea – One green tea of the most powerful plant-based antioxidants, green tea builds immunity, increases circulation and is a best known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown it to be valuable for memory enhancement. Most of green tea’s antioxidant polyphenols are from a class called catechins of which EGCG seems to dominate. It has been described as natures most potent anticancer agent.

-Polygonum (Ho Shou Wu) – translates as “Ho’s black hair” one of the main kidney restoratives in Chinese herbology. Legend has it that Ho, an aging lonely hermit living on the edge of town saw a vine intertwined on his walk through the forest. The vines resembled a couple embracing and so he harvested the root, cooked it and consumed the tea. His hair turned back to black from snow white (hence the name) and he actually married and had a son. They both lived to over 100 years old and the herb has since been called Ho’s black hair.

-Lycium (Goji) – LyciGojium is a restorative for the liver and kidneys, popular these days as Goji, and one of the 5 most famous herbs in China. Reputed to be the main food of Li Chen Yuang for the first 125 years of his life (he added some ginseng root for the next half of his life). Li died at a banquet in his honor after consuming a heavy dinner (he was a Taoist hermit who lived on herbs and vegetables) causing a national uproar and disgrace for the public official who hosted the event.

-Other herbs: Anemarrhena, Licorice, Polygala, Clubmoss, Cocoa Bean Extract, Stevia Leaf, Acerola Cherry, and Raspberry.

In another podcast you said the packet contains Chinese moss, but I don’t see it listed. Is there another name for the ingredient?

    • Ben Greenfield

      Yes, Huperzia Serrata.

Great product but I wish I knew how much caffeine was in it?!

    • Ben Greenfield

TianCHi is meant to be relaxing and brightening to the mind. It's the perfect combo for high functioning at work and yet being relaxed. The caffeine level is less than coffee but more than tea.

I have been taking this for a year now and find it a huge help at work and for cycling.

Anyone on here been taking it long term? I would be interested to hear if there are any issues with long term use? I dont seem to have any and i take it at least 3 or 4 days a week depending upon work load and rides.

As i said in my previous review i take if first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and this seems to ensure maximum effect.

The clarity and focus this seems to provide are better than anything else i have tried over the years.

I order 6 boxes at a time as im in the uk and keep it in a cool store.

Im a big fan of Roger Drummer and have watched his videos etc. seems like an extremely knowledgeable guy and his focus on the quality of his product is excellent.

A big fan and long term user and will stock up again very soon.

Is tianchi safe for pregnant women?

    • Ben Greenfield

Cynthia, I recommend reviewing the ingredients of any supplement with your doctor to determine whether it's right for you and your pregnancy.

Awesome. But i developed a red rash on top of my pre existing skin condition and very itchy. Detox reaction, allergy to any of the neutriceuticals or herbs?

    • Ben Greenfield

From HerbWorks: "More than likely it's from the niacin in the product. Some people are sensitive to it and it goes away quickly. Sometimes there is a little more niacin in a few packets because it's nearly impossible to mix it 100% to the exact nutrient level listed. We mix 750 kilos at a time and even though they go to great pains to get it exact, there may be a few boxes that have a little extra."

This is great stuff and I only take this when I’m feeling under the weather (cold, flu, vomiting) and it gets me back to my normal self by the next day.

I’m looking to get some from the US as my bro is coming over to the UK to visit. Are there any discount codes for this?

    • Ben Greenfield

Is this safe to use on my mom who is 83 and suffering from dementia?

    • Ben Greenfield

I specifically mention this supplement in regard to Alzheimer's in podcast #340. I’m not a doctor and this podcast is not meant to manage a disease, so do not misconstrue anything you read or hear as medical advice because it’s not. It's is simply what I would do/recommend if I or, you know, someone I loved had Alzheimer's or a high genetic risk for Alzheimer’s. https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/340

Love this stuff. I also take Thorne Elite Multivitamins, is it a problem to take both Tianchi and the multivitamins? Should I take them apart from each other?

    • Ben Greenfield

You can take them both. But I recommend multivitamin morning and evening, and TianChi midday such as midmorning or midafternoon.

I would buy it more often if the promo codes every worked, but they never do – not even the one mentioned in your book. Disheartening.

    • Ben Greenfield

Sorry AJ. Some of those codes are getting a bit old. Please contact me and I will see if I have a current code.

Hey Ben, love your work. Been listening to you for quite a while. Quick question for you! Thorne Multi Elite supplement daily with Tianchi? What are your thoughts?

    • Ben Greenfield

Not a problem taking along with TianChi – we do however, recommend other supplements be taken at least an hour apart so you get the most benefit as your body can only process so much at one time.

So, I added this to my fueling regimen while running (along with essential aminos and UCAN). I am training for my first marathon and am now up to 15 miles for my long run. The addition of Tianchi has been significant, especially when it comes to getting me through the second half of my run. The only downside is that fueling my runs has become pretty expensive. However, thanks to Ben, of course, I think I’ve found the holy trinity of fueling for endurance events.

My husband and I just finished our first box of tianchi and we are going to order a second. We really like it and take it when we have a big day on and occasionally I take it before my 2 hour work out.

I only take a half a pack at a time as I find that a whole packet makes me a little shaky. Does anyone else feel like this? Do some women need less?

    • Ben Greenfield

As you know, TianChi is a very powerful product. It is extremely effective because we use such high quality ingredients. We based the dosage of our packets for the average person. It is rare, but occasionally there are some that are more sensitive than most to TianChi and require a lesser dose either because of their weight or because they are more sensitive to supplements

You can do try one of two things –
reduce the dosage (which you are already doing, you can even try 1/3 packet)
or eat something before you drink it to slow the absorption rate.
In addition, the jitteriness could be that your neurons are firing more effectively because your brain is getting fed properly but after a couple of weeks you may not notice it anymore as your brain is gets fed properly.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
Keep me posted on your progress

Can tianchi be taken by teenagers?

    • Ben Greenfield

If you are under the age of 18 you should consult your physician

It tastes good. I wish there’s a European distributor. Can I take it with my vitamin stacks? I do megadoses of vit C, b-complex, multimineral, and digestive enzymes on empty stomach early in the morning and figuring out where to place tian chi. Can I also take it before sleep (see if it helps the glymphatic system)?

    • Ben Greenfield

Yes, you can take it with other vitamins but I don't recommend taking before sleep due to the trace amounts of caffeine…

Just ordered my next batch, I love this product as it provides an inner calm and positive feeling to get through even the most stressful of days. I take it to help manage my daily stress but it is especially good for long days in the saddle when i cycle at the weekend. On workdays I take it when i get up before i get into the shower on an empty stomach and this seems to give the maximum effect. I take it just before a long ride and sometimes after to help with my recovery.

This is the only supplement i take and i have been using it for about 6 months now with no side effect and I am definitely a fan of adaptogenic herbs now i discovered Tianchi

I struggle with anxiety and in taking this in the morning before heading out to face the world, I’m so level and “myself”. No “zombie” side effects that anti-anxiety medications have. It’s great to take whenever I have something stressful in the day, dealing with a lot of people or social situations etc. Makes the day go by quickly and I’m not anxious or analyzing everything.

Purchased this based on one of the podcasts about acclimating to altitude for an event. Definitely seemed to support greater focus and clarity for a 100 mile mountain bike race. I’ve also used it since and experienced a calm focus which has driven productivity (work and athletic training). As a side note, the delivery was delayed so I did not receive the product before I left for my race – the Greenfield team was AMAZINGLY responsive and ensured I had this for my event.

I’m considering buying the product to help with stress during the week due to my job. I’m also just starting to adopt and adapt to a veto diet over the last 4 weeks. Is this a product to stay away from while trying to remain in ketosis? Thanks!

Have been using for nearly two months now (took one week off in between), and it seems to be helping. TianChi does seem to make me more alert and focused in the morning, but I’m not sure if that could just be the caffeine. I also wish there was a way to know exactly how much of each herb is included within the blend.

Ben, I love this formula but am concerned with prolonged use because of the large dose of vit b5 and b6. Amazing benefits without question, but am considering onnit new mood. What are your thoughts?

  25. Rated 2 out of 5

What possible benefits does an indefinite amount of caffeine do to this? Also, “natural flavors” usually raises a red flag with me for obvious reasons. Any response about these?

  26. Rated 1 out of 5

Can I get it in the UK please?

    • Ben Greenfield

Yes, we ship to the UK.

Game changer, this stuff tastes great and left me feeling refreshed. I have been using for two weeks and have noticed all pleasant and subtle changes. Like all great herbs..stick with it and be consistent before judging. Sleep quality enhanced, judging by enhanced dream state, more endurance while exercising, more focus studying. Huge fan of herbs and less of vits. as i try to eat a whole foods diet to cover dietary needs but am a huge believer in herbal combinations. Great product, thank you Ben and Richard.

Loved this stuff! Wow, really did not expect it. Been struggling with adrenal fatigue for years. Done every cleanse possible and I eat entirely clean, no sugar, no caffeine, etc. However, I still can’t quite get the energy to run the way I used to. So I tried this stuff the morning before a long 2 hour run. They usually are very very slow, and this time I had energy and strength all the way through! It was amazing. I love taking this on stressful work days or long run/bike days. It also keeps me from having to recover for days.

    Take this now!!

I love this stuff! I first heand about during Ben’s podcast with the creator of it. I can’t remember his name. Let’s just call him “Master Confucius Yoda Jedi Awesome Dude”. Tianchi has really helped me heal from adrenal fatigue. I went from crossfitting 5 days a week, competing in obstacle course races, and enjoying relay races like the RTO with my friends to being laid up on my recliner for 2 weeks straight after a bout with epstein barr. Tianchi along with renewed focus on my rest and nutrition has helped me bounce back. I’m finally climbing back to where I was.

Thank you very much Ben for sharing this product with us listeners and for being a guiding force in the modern health and nutrition world!!

    Keep it up brother!

While I did experience a feeling of well-being and some increased energy after taking the supplement, I then experienced a “sugar low”. I noticed there is Fructose in it, quite a bit, which is puzzling to me since anybody who really believes in good health knows that Fructose or Sucrose have only detrimental effects on the body.

I have been using this for a year and have not noticed a significant difference. I bought into the idea that this is a healthy drink and do love the taste, but have a growing concern about the 6 grams of non-GMO crystalline fructose in each packet. When trying to limit carbs, it seems silly to drink something with more half a tablespoon of sugar first thing in the morning.

As a physician(MD) actually trained in Ayurveda and Taoist healing, this formula is very solid and highly recommended for daily energy balancing, tonification, and stress management.Very well formulated. Not ideal if already ill but very effective to stave off illness or to pull you into recovery mode more quickly when getting over an illness or injury assuming diet, sleep and other foundational lifestyle essentials in place.

I drink Tianchi every morning religiously. It actually tastes quite good- stir well, use ice, mix with water, add more water at the end if some has settled to the bottom. I would describe the taste as a healthy fruit punch, not medicine at all. My wife tried it and loved it too. Helps to set my attitude and focus for the day and get something healthy in me early that I enjoy much more than water. Highly recommended. scottyO-Aspen

I got this based on Ben's recomendations. I had Adrenal fatigue and this helped improve my condition over the next several months. I use this as routinly before I race any Ironmand. I have been using for 1.5yrs. I got my wife on it now and she noticed a huge benfit with helping her keep her nerves calm with her stressful job. I actually love the tast of TianChi.

Really good stuff! Well… not the taste- blech ; ) Very effective on your brain, well being, focus and HRV though. Works great when delving into a stressful situation and you need to get a lot done and maintain your focus. I work at a Medical Device company in Regulatory Affairs and my work is cyclic, sometimes I need to stay super focused while writing, getting people to get me information, talking to FDA…. typically I have a super tight neck during those weeks. With Tian Chi I have found that I am able to keep an even baseline, get my work done efficiently and not have 'stress neck'. I have seen it posted by someone else as well and I can verify that it does have a significant impact when I do my daily HRV. Definitely raised my HRV. Also, I read a post where someone else was disgusted by the taste, Ben provided a great response "I happen to like the taste, maybe just think of it as taking your daily medicine". It does not make you an instant genius, more of a 'calm coffee effect'. I experimented and took it last weekend before a Half Marathon and I never once had that 'this is getting hard' feeling the entire run. I do not like to make a conclusion based on one trial but did find it interesting.
