The ION (Individual Optimal Nutrition) Profile is a combination of advanced nutritional analyses that measure levels of organic acids, fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Over time, nutritional deficiencies can cause a variety of chronic health conditions, and if you struggle with things like poor sleep, less-than-stellar workouts, brain fog, appetite cravings, sore joints, or any other “mysterious” issues, this profile can help to elucidate and discover micronutrients and other small components that other basic blood test simply can’t discover.
This Micronutrient Blood Test: ION Profile with 40 Amino Acids is a Genova Test Kit and includes:
- Functional Deficiency Markers for Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and Folic Acid
- Vitamins A, E, B-Carotene and Coenzyme Q10
- Essential Elements
- Amino Acids
- Fatty Acids
- Organic Acids
- Lipid Peroxides (TBARS)

Special Instructions/Details: All instructions will arrive to your home with your kit. After collecting, yu can ship back to lab Monday-Thursday only. Specimen MUST be shipped within 48 hours of collection. The ION Profile requires you to collect urine at home. This should be done prior to the blood collection, which you drive to a lab or hospital near your house to do, or call a phlebotomist to your house to do. All specimens, urine and blood, must be shipped together. Do not collect urine during menstruation. Vial contains preservative, so do not rinse. Take frozen urine specimen (placed in biohazard bag with frozen ice packet) and ALL collection and shipping materials with you when you go to the blood drawing site. This will allow the blood and urine specimens to be shipped together to the lab.
Before testing, you should also decrease fluid intake to avoid excessive dilution of the urine:
- For adults, restrict intake to three 8 oz. glasses or less for 24 hours
- Make sure that no more than 8 oz. of this is consumed after 8:00 PM the evening prior to urine collection.
Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. The reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
Note: This is a test kit that will be mailed to you. It requires at home collection and a blood draw. It is your responsibility to arrange the blood draw for your kit. Not available in Ohio.
